Actually In Practice:Psychotherapists typically use a blend of “psychotherapy” and “counseling,” with occasional elements of “coaching” (e.g., in the closing phase of work with clients).

Counselors typically use a blend of “counseling” with some elements of “psychotherapy” and “coaching” (depending on the nature of the client’s problem and the level of the counselor’s training).

Coaches typically use a blend of “coaching” and “counseling,” with occasional elements of “psychotherapy” – but only if the coach also happens to be a trained psychotherapist and an issue arises in work with a client that requires it).
